Main Service Areas in Virginia

Green Forest Surveys doesn't just survey a few counties in VA, we serve the entire state of Virginia.  The majority of our work is based in the New River Valley and Shenandoah Valley. This includes but is not limited to: Rockbridge, Montgomery, Bath, Alleghany, Botetourt, Pulaski, Floyd, Giles, Roanoke, Wythe, Albemarle, and Augusta counties. We offer a complete line of surveys and certificates, most of which can be found on our services page, along with a detailed description of what each survey entails. We have most of the surveys that we perform listed on our services page, but that is not all of the surveys that we offer, so if there is a particular survey that you need and it is not listed, that doesn't mean that we don't offer it. Please contact us with any questions you might have. Green Forest Surveys operates between the hours of 8AM - 5PM Monday thru Friday and on the weekends by appointment only. So feel free to give us a call or send us an email and we will be happy to work around your schedule so that we can meet any of your surveying needs.

Our Services

Surveying goes underground

Surveyors have been around for centuries. While their tools and techniques have changed over time the underlying principles of measurement and mapping are still the same today.

The advancement of new technology means Surveyors can now take measurements and report data with increased speed and accuracy. Green Forest Surveys uses the latest technology to get their job done every day.

GIS software is used to capture and analyze data to create digital maps of areas. The high-tech software is used to create drawings in 2D & 3D, along with 3D video that can give you a full tour under the ground. Click the button below to see some samples.

A Closer Look

Residential Surveying

Record or As-built Survey

A survey performed to obtain horizontal and or vertical dimensional data so that a constructed facility may be delineated, i.e. foundation survey, or as-built of improvements. As-builts provide important information that is needed during construction and later for future projects. They serve as a foundation upon which to record all changes, directed or otherwise, made during the work so that the contractor’s staff can quickly obtain information about any design change. After construction, as-builts serve the owner as ready reference information about what was actually built. They can also serve as demolition drawings and as records of land use.

Elevation / Floodplain Survey

(FEMA Elevation Certificates and LOMA’s)

Elevation surveys determine the elevation of various sections of a building or plot of land. Typically these are used to aid in building plans to determine if a property is in a flood zone. A Flood Elevation Certificate is a document generated by a surveyor, that will provide the data to rate your properties location to see if it is on or near a flood zone. If you need to have an evaluation for the insurance company to obtain flood insurance, it can determine where your home is precisely located in relationship to the Base Flood Elevation. It is a good idea to obtain a flood certificate if your property is built in a low area or near water. If you are not sure whether your assets are in a flood zone or not, it is a wise choice to have this survey performed before it's too late.

Family Subdivision Survey

Also known as a “Family Subdivision Plat”, it is the subdivision of a tract of land into smaller parcels, for immediate family members, showing monumentation and mathematical survey data on a map, conforming to local Government (usually County) ordinances. Family Subdivision Surveys are needed when you may need to divide an existing parcel of land into two or more parcels. All Family Subdivision surveys include a plat of the new parcels. It is important to note the size of the original parcel as well as the size of the proposed new parcel(s) to receive accurate quotes.
